The essence of the creative state can be distilled down to a feeling. When I was just a child, I felt like an artist, therefore I was an artist, before I really was one. It was this certainty that drove my search for the knowledge and skills that would help me confirm my inner conviction. Knowing without proof, against all obstacles or disbelief is a way to access future knowledge, and is a basis for faith in oneself…
Once a person has mastered the feeling of being an artist in any medium, it is possible to work in any other medium. I started out as a painter, but over the years I have explored video, sound, interactive art, humor, dance, graphic design, and poetry. All I have to do is transport the mood of the artist over to the medium I have chosen. In fact, it is often an advantage to not know the medium that well, the work that results can be surprisingly fresh that way…
